Day one!

Metronomy- The Bay
After a horribly long and terrible new music dry spell, I stumbled upon this music video and it has [hopefully more than momentarily] saved me! Not only is the song audible gold, the video is a visual masterpiece [I know, I gotta reel it back in a bit]! The colors, the style, the emotion, the angles, the laid-back cool of it all. This is my summer anthem [and maybe EB 2012 as well?]!
After years of wanting to participate in a marathon [but never wanting to pay the registration fee], I’ve found the perfect jump off race: The Color Run. An easy 5k where they blast you with color dust [that’s 100% natural and environmentally safe] at each kilometer mark, you honestly can’t say that this doesn’t look like the best reason to run three.something miles.
See you in Sacramento?!
![When I was a kid, my mom taught me how to sew on her mother’s old sewing machine. Today, some fifteen years later, I’m still going at it.
While altering some clothing in anticipation for summer, I rediscovered these spools of thread that belonged to her when she was younger. I can’t be sure from when, but she hasn’t written in print or gone by Hatlestad for as long as I’ve been around, and these things are made of wood! [I suppose I could ask her.]

![To accompany the start of spring and the very first Farmers’ Market of the year, our friends at the Green House are hosting a fabulous flea market this Saturday! There will be tons of amazing items for sale from a variety of sellers [at least ten now, me included]! I’ll be contributing furniture, home goods/decor, clothing, jewelry, bags, art/craft supplies, books, and who knows what else!
We’ll be out there at 8am [for all you early bird bargain hunters] till 2pm [for all you other good time havers]. Come by on your way to/from the Farmers’ Market and see what’s happenin’!

I landed a graphic design internship at FOAM magazine for the summer! The internship is in Santa Monica, so I’ll be moving back to LA till at least August/September. I’ll be commuting from home, but the commute isn’t far, and catching that sunset on the ocean on the way home is worth it [so is the free rent + food].

I did a little work on my backpack yesterday- I got the flaps fitted over the pockets and the main compartment. The stripey fabric is pretty slouchy, so I’m thinking that some sort of toggle situation is in order to keep the flap and the pocket joined.
Next thing to do is find a backpack at a thrift store that has some sweet, sturdy straps I can carefully remove and sew onto this bad boy. I’m hoping for something leather and adjustable!
